Jordash Live @ AILI S.F.
This past Friday evening, I was lucky enough to catch a live, improvised hardware jam by one half of one of my favorite electronic dance groups, Juju & Jordash. Rocking a Roland 707 drum machine, two old-school analog keyboards (a Yamaha DX-11 and another Roland I believe) and a Melodica, Jordash provided a constant barrage of pulsating synth swells, arpeggiated bass lines and pounding rhythms. The sound was suprisingly raw, dry and almost industrial. This could be accounted for by the lack of the other half of the duo in the performance, but in a lot of ways this probably works even better on the dance floor than the spaced out, jazz-influenced techno that the full group usually plays.
